MINDFULNESS AND WELLBEING

All classes start the day off with a nurture hour. This involves checking in and seeing how they are all feeling, offering breakfast, completing sensory diets and any needs that need to be met before learning can start. It is important for all our children to settle into the day feeling calm, supported, and ready to learn. Mindfulness activities such as having a walk, drawing, yoga, cooking and swimming are offered when the children need it as well as having timetabled mindfulness sessions throughout the week for our more formal learners. For our semi-formal and engaging learners’ mindfulness is offered through a more varied and individualised way which is often communicated through PECs or sign as and when the child needs something.

We also hold different weeks or days of focused learning which include pupil voice week, science week, arts week as well as our stunning starts, marvellous middles, and fabulous finishes.
